I've taken a lot of photos in the past two weeks. I'm really excited to share them with you. 

I've actually been taking a lot of American Girl pictures lately for AGC and Littlest Miss Playthings. Look forward to more of those in my next post. :)

seriously. break out of that box!

I feel like a lot of times, we, as photographers, get stuck in a 'box'. Our pictures turn boring since we're only staying in our comfort zone. Maybe we tell ourselves we can only do a certain type of photography. And maybe that's true--after all, we all have our own area of expertise when it comes to photography. But a lot of times, our excuse ends up hurting our photos. The person looking at the photos gets tired of that one type, taken from that one angle, with that one camera setting.
I'm going to challenge you all to take one type of picture you normally wouldn't take. Maybe a nighttime picture, maybe a pet picture, just a picture that you wouldn't normally take. Try a new setting on your camera, or an angle you wouldn't normally use. I don't care what it takes to get that awesome photo--lay on your stomach on the ground, sing "Miss Mary Mack" at the top of your lungs, jump in a muddle puddle... Just don't do anything horribly dangerous. :)

Warning: photo bomb ahead

So, since I didn't post very many pictures the other day, I decided to post some today to make up for it. I went out yesterday and took a whole bunch of pictures (my computer informed me that I took 61, to be exact). And I'm hoping to go to the woods tomorrow (I need to take pictures for a photography class I'm taking). So I'll have even more pictures by tomorrow night. I'll probably post those on my regular blog, though, so I don't get accused of spamming this one.
Without further ado, here's my photo bomb. (another warning: I think I'm addicted to apple tree blossoms.)

Springtime

This week (and last) I've had a lot of fun taking pictures in my backyard. Everything is blooming, and the weather's been pretty nice (except for the wind).

I've also been experimenting with different features on my camera, such as color settings and focus settings. 

I hope you enjoy these. Unfortunately, there aren't very many, but I've been having trouble uploading pictures lately.

Photography styles

I've been debating about what to post today. The other day, I took a whole bunch of photos (warm weather inspires me), intending to post them on Sunshine Valley and here.
Then I thought, "Maybe I could tell them a little bit more about my photography style."
We all have our own styles. Some of us like portraits, some landscapes, some macro, some black and white, the list goes on and on.
My personal favorite? The little things in life--macro, textures, and so on and so forth. I like to take pictures of things that people don't think about very often. Shingles, shadows, and sunshine.
It seems like everyone's so busy being in a hurry these days that they don't take time to look at the little things in life. It's our job as photographers to capture special moments, ideas, little things, places, and so many other things, so that others might at least take 10 seconds out of their busy day to look at some photos.
I think everyone likes looking at pictures. Some of us like to look at pictures of far off places and dream of sunny beaches and crowded streets. Some of us like to look at pictures that make us think, "Mmm... chocolate chip cookies!"
And it's good that we all have our own style. What would this world be like if no one took pictures of food? What would it be like if no one bothered with portraits? What if no one took pictures for the newspaper?
A world with only one type of photos would be rather boring.

So here are my photos that capture a bit of my photography style.
