The Bee's Knees

And plotting that she's the bee's knees and I am the cat's meow, it's funny how she recalls what I can't remember now. - Sunburn by Owl City

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I am very happy to announce that today is the official first day of Summer! :D The season of swimming pools, lazy afternoons, and crisp mornings. Of buzzing bees and sunflowers, sandals and sundresses. Summer is a beautiful season indeed!

Speaking of bees, that's what this post is about. They have been buzzing around some purple bushes that my neighbors have (they grow a-plenty here in New Mexico) and I love taking photographs of them. Here are some of my best:

My neighbors also had some beautiful roses (unfortunately, they are gone now...) in their front yard. And they have a white pick-up truck. That looks old. And has light blue paint. *SQUEE!* I'd love to take a photo shoot with that truck in some of the pictures. Country look FTW!
Roses. They were a lovely antique pink color.

That's all for this Wednesday. May your summer be not too hot, but instead incredibly amazing.

Super Moon

Hello All,

My apologies that I missed my past two Wednesdays! I am officially back now, with some hopefully interesting photos for the world. ;)

As you might have known, there was a Super Moon out a couple of days ago. I geared up with the tallest setting on my tripod and my mom's camera, equipped with the long-range lens. I thought I was good to go, I mean, seriously, that's all you'd need, right?

Apparently not.

I mean, this is a pretty good picture, but my perfectionist self was looking for something more. I needed to change the settings on the camera, but I didn't know how...off to the internet I went! I found some amazing moon pictures and some settings, and after a bit of fiddling I was able to get some shots that satisfied me. You sort of have to treat the moon like it's the sun since it's so bright, and normal camera settings won't take pictures that capture the details of the moon. I also noticed, for the same reason of brightness, my camera took better pictures when there was some slight cloud cover (and I had plenty of that).
Ta-da!
I'd like to use this for a book cover or something, but at the moment I don't have anything like that.
I also got some moon bokeh.
The moon fails here, but I thought the clouds were super neat.
 My neighbor's campfire gone crazy.

Have a great week, everyone...I'll see you in two Wednesdays. ;)

Happy Pi Day!

Hello All,

Welcome to Wednesday on the Friends With Photos blog. I am your friendly host, Quinlyn. ;) Let's start with the events of the day. As you may know, March 14th is officially PI DAY. Not P-I-E, that's delicious. P-I, the mathematical formula for
calculating the circumference of circles. March 14th is designated Pi Day because the first 3 digits are 3.14.

Math people really like this day. I'm not a big math person, but hey, it's fun anyway. ;) Here is a picture of my dolls celebrating, though I'm not sure how happy Kit is about being lofted into the air:

What, you don't see it?
Why, it's Pi, of course! ;)

I hope everyone has a great day, whether you're paying attention to all the Pi around you or not. ;) See you in two weeks!

First Week of Wednesday

Hi Everyone!

My name is Quinlyn and you'll be seeing my posts every first and third Wednesdays of the month. I hope you enjoy them.

I chiefly run two other blogs - Quinny & Co. and The Dolls of Happy Valley. I am professing to be a writer when I grow up, but I also love to take pictures. The cameras I take photos with are a Fujifilm S800 and a Nikon D3100 (which is my mom's).

Alright, enough with the introductions! :) Here are some pictures that I have taken:

I hope everyone enjoys reading this blog and that we all have fun and learn from our fellow photographers. Have a great day!
